Manchester United player Paul Pogba has revealed he used to wear David Beckham's football boots when he was growing up.

Thousands of children around the world donned pairs of Adidas Predators, made famous by Beckham in the 1990s - and Pogba was one of them.

The 24-year-old, who was brought back to Old Trafford by Jose Mourinho last summer, now gets the opportunity to design his own footwear with sponsor Adidas - inspiring a new generation of youngsters.

Speaking to Copa 90, Pogba replied when asked how important his boots are to him: "They're very important. Before I was wearing David Beckham's boots and I always wanted to wear mine.

"Now I have the opportunity to be with adidas, we work together on the boots, the collection. I'm involved in all the boots I wear."

Earlier this week, the France international spoke positively about working with new signing Nemanja Matic, who impressed in his first Premier League game against West Ham since joining United from Chelsea for £35million.

He said: "Against West Ham Nemanja was starting behind and I could worry more about attacking. I feel good playing that way. But it depends on what the manager wants. What he wants we have to do.

"It was an excellent start to the season against West Ham but what matters is the end. We have started well but we have to carry on like this. But it is only one game. We have to keep calm, carry on training and keep working and concentrating on the next game."
